How does IPTV work?
As with a cable or satellite subscription, a TV signal is sent to the subscribers. With IPTV this is delivered over the internet. Your HD receiver that deciphers the signal and translates it into razor-sharp images and pure sound on your television. And everything can be set up the same day
What do I need for IPTV?
Very simple: An ADSL or fiber optic modem (i.e. internet) A suitable device (SmartTV, Smartphone, Tablet, Computer etc) – An Ethernet cable (or WiFi) and of course a subscription to be able to decipher the codes.
1. Internet
2. Device
3. Subscription
What internet speed do I need for IPTV?
We always have several channels with different qualities.
Below are the average recommended speeds.
25 megabits per second – recommended for SD quality.
30 megabits per second – recommended for HD quality.
50 megabits per second – recommended for Ultra HD quality.
100 megabits per second – recommended for 4K quality.
What does IPTV mean and how does it work?
One of the best alternatives among the applications to watch movies and series is IPTV. But what does IPTV mean? How does it work and why is it so sought after, especially during this time of the coronavirus pandemic?
The answer to the last question is the simplest: the quarantine created more alternatives to have little to do at home. Thus, this internet TV service has become quite popular in recent months.
Still not sure what it is and how it works? Then follow the next paragraphs and discover what IPTV means!
What is IPTV?
Short for Internet Protocol Television, IPTV simply means Internet television. In other words, you get access to the channels you are used to. But in TV capability you can still accept it on your smartphone, computer and basically any device with a wifi connection and click on IPTV apps.
It is to make sure that you can watch television without cables or antennas, just depending on your internet connection.
Some services even work directly from Internet browsers, greatly simplifying the lives of their users. It’s worth noting here that smart TVs are still included.
What is IPTV for?
Now that you know what IPTV means, now let’s talk about what this service is for. As you may have noticed before, the IPTV function is quite simple: watch series, movies, soap operas and variety shows without having to rely on cable TV services or antennas, which can be quite broken.
Another feature of IPTV is that in addition to watching television channels, you can still access video on demand, as if it were Netflix. In other words, if the channels are not good, you can still watch movies available in the catalog of IPTV services that you have contracted.
Some services still have a feature that lets you bite shows that are playing when it’s inappropriate so you can watch them later.
The operation of an IPTV is still very simple and we have already answered it throughout the length of the article. When you use an IPTV service, the television channels are sent via your internet signal instead of via the antenna or cable television.
You can use an IPTV in two ways. The first is directly from your browser, on your computer or smartphone.
Some programs still pick up IPTV signals and generally offer more options to personalize your TV viewing experience, such as determining the numbering of each channel and choosing channel lists to understand what’s on it, among other things. One of the most recommended is Kodi, which we’ve already covered here on AppTuts.
In addition to these two alternatives, you can still use devices called TV Boxes. They are usually equipped with an application to configure and use IPTV, in addition to YouTube and conventional streaming services.
Now the question to ask: do I need a strong internet connection to use IPTV? That’s what we’ll answer in the future section!
How many megabytes of internet do you need to run IPTV?
Retaining what IPTV means leads to another question: how many megabytes of internet are needed to watch IPTV flawlessly and in HD quality? Well, even if you try your best to improve your internet connection, in fact not all speeds will allow the programs to run easily.
With connections below 5 Mbps, you can only watch IPTV in victim quality, from 360p to 480p. If it is below 1 Mbps, it will be extremely difficult to see.
From 5 Mbps, things tend to change shape. In this sense, it is already possible to watch your favorite channels in conventional HD quality, namely 720p.
Full HD will need twice as much. Only connections higher than 10 Mbps can play channels in 1080p.
4K will still only be achievable with a robust connection. We estimate that only connections over 35 mbps, preferably 100 mbps, can play programs at this quality level.
Before that, however, it is interesting to check the dummy of your television. There’s no point in switching to a super-fast connection to watch 4K channels from these services if your TV runs as high as Full HD. In this example, a channel in 4K displays only the 1080p that the TV can display.
So be sure to study what’s good for you and what you can improve on before switching to a full setup for IPTV viewing.
